    • Should have been a 4-1/2 star overall vehicle

I owned this SE 4Motion Taos since December 2021. The only attribute keeping this vehicle from being great is the sloppy transmission. The transmission shifts inconsistently causing either jerking of vehicle at low speeds or inadequate acceleration when needed to merge into traffic. These are big safety issues requiring an immediate fix. There are two things you can do to minimize those conditions. Use gasoline rated at 89 octane and customize the normal driving mode by setting the driveline to ECO. This will lessen the occurrence of jerking and hesitation. I have had a full day of the vehicle operating like it should on occasion for unknown reasons.
    • So many problem

At first I absolutely loved my Taos. I did so much research for my first new car and had saved up so much. Once my car hit 10,000 it started having issues where this EPC light came on and the check engine light. I put the correct gas in the tank as it says 87 or 91. And they came back and said it was ‘bad gas’ and it’s not covered under warranty and vw isn’t coming out and owning the problem. The engine starts stalling, and when it does finally pick up its a huge jolt. I’m getting car sick just driving it to the grocery store. They said that this problem is happening to so many of the Taos models around the US and many Jetta’s as well. They told me I could pay $700 to drain my fuel tank and it ~might~ fix the problem. I haven’t even had my car a year. It’s the 2022 vw Taos SEL AWD. I have almost been hit 3 times now at 4 way stops because my car won’t get up and go and when it finally does it almost makes you hit something because it’s a huge jolt of power.
    • 4 Motion transmission is Temperamental at best

I would rate this vehicle at least 4 stars if the transmission did not make driving this vehicle Work and tiresome. I have owned this vehicle about 9 months and the majority of the time I was trying to find out what was wrong with it or what I was doing wrong. After trying various combinations of driving modes I came to the decision that the transmission is not a good match for the vehicle. The main point is that a vehicle should make it easier for the driver to operate not more difficult. I think the Taos 4 motion deserves a failing grade and VW should do something to satisfy customers of these vehicles and quit using that transmission on the 4 Motion. They almost made a good vehicle again but not quite.
